AUSTON MATTHEWS

Welcome
To
Auston Matthews
Foundation

Auston Taylour Matthews was born on September 17, 1997, in San Ramon, California. He grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he began playing hockey at a young age, eventually becoming one of the most prominent American-born players in the NHL. In 2016, he was selected first overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs, launching a career marked by scoring prowess, multiple awards, and growing leadership on and off the ice. Philanthropy & Community Engagement Beyond hockey, Matthews has demonstrated a strong commitment to giving back. One of his notable long-term associations is with the SickKids Foundation in Toronto, a hospital that cares for children with serious illnesses. Matthews has participated in various initiatives for SickKids, for example, wearing custom skates and sticks with SickKids logos, helping in auctions to raise funds, and more recently, collaborating with young patients to design special gear. Movember Involvement Matthews has been very active with Movember, an annual campaign that raises awareness and funds concerning men’s health, focusing on mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. His involvement has included challenging himself publicly (e.g., putting his trademark mustache “on the line”) and setting fundraising goals. For instance, in 2020 and 2021 he pledged to shave his moustache if certain donation thresholds were met. In 2021, he succeeded in surpassing his goal, raising over $148,000 for Movember, and kept his commitment. He uses his public platform to raise awareness about men’s health issues, thereby helping reduce stigma and encouraging conversation. He participates in creative fundraising approaches (e.g. mustache pledges, striking visuals, auctions), showing willingness to put personal image and public persona toward social good. His interactions with children through hospital partnerships arise from a place of genuine connection (see the story with Finn, a young patient designing gear with him) which suggests personal motivation in supporting children’s health. Potential or Inspiration for His Own Foundation Given his visible track record: It would be natural for someone with Matthews’ history to consider founding a formal non-profit organization or foundation. Such a foundation could focus on combining his interests: mental wellness for men (through awareness, removing stigma, access to resources) and children’s health (supporting hospital care, children’s wellbeing, pediatric disease or illness support).Matthews’ style, leveraging signature imagery (the moustache), fundraising events, creative gear, personal involvement would make such a foundation not only impactful but also engaging to fans and donors.

WHY SHOULD I DONATE?

Every day, men around the world face silent battles, struggles that too often go unseen or unspoken. From mental health challenges to physical illnesses like prostate and testicular cancer, the toll on men’s health is real and growing. Your donation can help change that. 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. 3 out of 4 suicides are men. Yet, too many suffer in silence because of stigma, lack of awareness, or limited access to support. Your contribution helps: • Fund life-saving research into prostate and testicular cancer.
• Support mental health programs that give men a safe space to talk, heal, and seek help.
• Promote education and awareness campaigns that encourage men to take action on their health, physically and emotionally.
• Provide crisis resources that can prevent suicides and bring hope where it’s needed most.
Men’s health is everyone’s responsibility, because every father, brother, son, and friend deserves the chance to live a full, healthy life. Together, we can change the statistics. Together, we can save lives. Donate today, because men’s health matters.

TIPS TO STAY HEALTHY

Run or walk 60km over the month. That's 60km for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, across the world.

Join a community group, sports team, or club to build connection and reduce isolation.

Schedule routine checkups with your doctor.

A good diet provides the body with the nutrients it needs to stay healthy and strong. It includes a balance of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, proteins, and plenty of water. Eating the right foods in the right amounts helps maintain energy, supports growth, and prevents diseases. A good diet is key to overall health and well-being.

Adequate sleep is essential for good health and daily performance. It allows the body to rest, repair, and restore energy. Getting enough sleep helps improve concentration, mood, and immunity. Lack of sleep can lead to tiredness, stress, and poor health. Everyone should aim for regular, quality sleep to stay healthy and active.

Good hygiene means keeping yourself and your surroundings clean to stay healthy and prevent illness. Simple habits like bathing regularly, washing hands, brushing teeth, and wearing clean clothes help protect against germs. Practicing good hygiene also boosts confidence and keeps you feeling fresh every day.
